National 'Fun at work day' - Is your job fulfilling or filling the stress bucket?

Fun… at work?  Are you sure?


When was the last time you had fun at work?


I had fun yesterday, I spent the day with 30 women who had all signed up to work on their self-development.  We covered a lot of ground and a number of subjects as well as having an opportunity to get to know each other and we had some fun while we did it.


One of the key discussions yesterday was around stress, how to stay as stress free as possible and the best possible ways to manage stress.


We all live busy lives, organisations are asking for more with less, personal lives are another ball to juggle and it can all become very overwhelming.


It is important to keep that stress bucket empty and fun and laughter can have a big impact.


There is a lot of research that supports that fun at work reduces stress but can also increase morale and productivity.  


It is important to have a good relationship with colleagues and balancing out a stressful job or workload with office banter can really help with this.


If you need some suggestions for today then google office dares!  I will let you determine which ones are appropriate for your office!


On a more serious note, for many people their work is one of the main contributors to their stress levels.  

  • Having fun at work seems impossible. 

  • They wake up in the morning dreading going into work. 

  • They have withdrawn themselves from office conversations and social activities. 

  • The work itself is no longer fulfilling or challenging.

  • They feel stuck not knowing what they want
